Our Story From New York City to San Francisco, and back again.

or How we stopped worrying and learned to love the frequent flier miles.

Wedding Brooklyn, New York.

We can't wait to have you join us.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Our wedding ceremony and reception will both take place at the beautiful Brooklyn Botanic Garden beginning at 11 a.m. The BBG is located adjacent to Prospect Park, which is where we love to do our morning runs, and the Brooklyn Museum.
1000 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225 Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Our Ceremony

We will be getting married at the Alfred T. White Amphitheater, which overlooks the Japanese Pond Garden. BBG's Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden was the first Japanese Garden to be created in an American public garden. It was constructed from 1914-1915 as a gift of early BBG benefactor and trustee Alfred T. White, and it first opened to the public in June 1915.

The Atrium

After the ceremony, we’ll take a very short walk to The Atrium for our wedding reception. The Atrium is BBG’s new ecologically sustainable, leaf-shaped event space. Beneath a living roof of native grasses and wildflowers, the floor-to-ceiling glass walls look out onto the Garden's Cherry Esplanade. The Atrium has glass windows that filter sunlight, a geoexchange heating and cooling system, and because it's built partially into the hillside, 60 percent of the building is insulated by the ground.

After Party!

Our reception at BBG will end at 4:30 p.m., but knowing us, we’ll want to keep the party going through the evening! For those interested, please join us at Franklin Park in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Franklin Park has indoor and outdoor seating (and drinks!), and is only a 10-minute walk from BBG. But if your shoes are starting to feel uncomfortable at this point in the festivities, feel free to call for car service. Don’t forget to carpool with your new friends from our Wedding!

Attire

September is one of the most beautiful months in New York City. Temperatures range from the high 60s to high 70s, so please plan accordingly for our outdoor ceremony. We kindly request cocktail attire for our Wedding ceremony and reception.

Rent an Apartment or Room

Interested in a more authentic experience? Travelling with a large group? Sites like AirBnB and Home Away offer residential apartment rentals. We have used such services for travel to places like Venice Beach, and have been very happy with the experience.

Apartments are offered at day or weekly rates by current owners or residents, and come furnished with basic necessities. Inventory is high, so take the time to sift through options within your price range and preferred neighborhood. If you choose to search in Brooklyn, we highly recommend our old neighborhood of Fort Greene, conveniently located blocks away from the second largest subway terminal in all of New York City, and walking distance to fantastic restaurants, bars and cafes. Take the time to also visit our dog Brooklyn’s favorite spot in the neighborhood - Fort Greene Park. To search in this neighborhood, use 77 Lafayette Avenue / Brooklyn, NY 11217 as your anchor (that's our old apartment!). Anything around there should be pretty great.

Directions to BBG

Taking the subway is a quick and simple way to get to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Take the 2 or 3 train to Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum, or the 4 or 5 train to Franklin Avenue. You can also jump in available cabs from the Marriott, or call for car service from any location.

Yellow cabs are not as easy to find in Brooklyn, so below is a list of reliable car services located in the Downtown area that we regularly use. Pricing is comparable to yellow cabs, and note that cash is preferred by drivers:

Sunday Bagel Breakfast

Don't leave Brooklyn without the borough's favorite breakfast - bagels! We'd like to invite you to our home the morning after the wedding for pastries and some classic bagels and schmear, starting at 12:30 p.m., hosted by Fredrick and Louise Baron. If you are travelling, we ask that you plan your trip accordingly so we have one last opportunity to say thank you in person. Our address is below:

While in New York

New York is an amazing city, and even we haven’t covered every inch of it, so don’t worry about squeezing in all the sights with one trip! Here are some ideas while you’re in town:

Double Decker Bus Tours

If this is your first time in New York, consider a hop-on, hop-off tour bus. This will help cover most of the major attractions, while giving you the flexibility to explore neighborhoods you may want to spend more time in during your trip. Double Decker Bus Tours (Grayline)

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty will re-open to the public on July 4. Tickets for September tours may not yet be available through the booking system, but check in regularly for updates. Statue of Liberty Tickets

Broadway Shows

If you're interested in catching a Broadway show, one approach is to get tickets in advance to ensure availability while you're here. For advance tickets, check out Broadway.com.

If you’re budget-minded, it might be worthwhile to try waiting in line for discounted tickets in Times Square at the TKTS box office. Based on the popularity of the show tickets available each day, the line varies in length. Please keep in mind that tickets are not guaranteed. Regardless, it’s a fun way to spend some time in the heart of Times Square. TKTS: Discount Tickets for Broadway Shows

9/11 Memorial

One World Trade Center has made tremendous progress over the last year. With the tower nearing completion, and the financial district bustling once again, September will be a significant month to visit the 9/11 Memorial. Tickets are required in advance for entrance, but this also helps you move through security quickly. Tickets for 9/11 Memorial
